The Crystal Cruises luxury vessel, the M/V Infinity docked in Santo Domingo for the first time, bringing along 958 cruise tourists, the majority from the U.S.
During its visit to the First City of the Americas, tourists partook in a novelty volunteering program which united all cruisers with the junior and senior year students from the Pilar Constanzo Polytech Institute, who received English lessons, and held a cultural conversation, alongside some artistic amenities for the participants.
The trip featured the enthusiastic participation of some 75 students and the faculty of the educational center composed by the teachers from the Languages, Hotel & Tourism Management fields.
Due to the arrival of the M/V Serenity, the traditional plaque exchange between the ship and Sans Souci Ports, took place featuring the attendance of the Ship Captain, Egil A. Giske, and on behalf of Sans Souci Ports, Mrs. Sharon Mei and Mr. Anthony Schery.
In the words of the Sans Souci Ports commercial director, Mrs. Sharon Mei, through this project they seek to integrate and approach the community surrounding the port to cruise ship activity and promote at the same time an unique experience for students involved in the program.
The port executive reminded everyone that this cruise line within the last five years has become widely renowned in the tourist industry as one of the best of its kind. “It represents a true privilege for Santo Domingo, for this line to begin operating in this cruise destination” said Mei.
