Entities Agrees on Campaign “The River, My Town River”

SANTO DOMINGO

The PUCMM University and Sans Soucí Ports underwrote a collaboration agreement to implement the campaign “The River, my Town mirror”, sponsoring care for the Ozama and Isabela rivers.

The agreement shall be enforced this month, informed Monsignor Agripino Nunez, Chancellor of the PUCMM and Mr. Lisandro Macarrulla, president of Sans Soucí Ports, upon signing the agreement in the Rectory Meeting Room of the PUCMM St. Thomas Achinus Campus.

The PUCMM channeled this meeting through its Communications Department, for purposes of developing initiatives that make visible the current conditions the rivers are in, and stimulate positive changes in the behavior of all citizens, its borders and the general population.

By coordinating eight subjects and two semesters, around 300 students will focus on the environmental topic of the Ozama and Isabela Rivers through research projects and development of visual aids that serve as educational tools and voice for the preservation and sanitation of these two important basins.

The display to be used for these productions carried out by the student body will be the 7th edition of the “Shortest Week” audiovisual festival of the PUCMM which features showings of documentaries, shorts and educational campaigns designed and developed by the Mass Communication Students, set to take place in June 2014.

“With this agreement, we will promote spaces for dialogues that promote timely actions and synergies between the different entities responsible for caring and cleaning these rivers”, said Lisandro Macarrulla, president of Sans Soucí Ports. Macarrulla stated this theme will serve as platform for the implementation of “The River, my Town mirror”.
