Cruise Season 2013-2014 Begins

With the arrival of the S. S Ocean Dream, and six new vessels using the Port of Santo Domingo, Sans Soucí Ports formally inaugurated its 2013-2014 cruise season, which hopes to double the amount of cruise tourists visiting the capital city.

Among the vessels debuting at the Port of Santo Domingo are: Ocean Dream, Aida Bella, MSC Musica, Explorer and Asuka from the peace Boat Cruise Line; Aida Cruise Line; Fred Olsen Lines, MSC Cruise Lines, Semester at Sea and Asuka Cruise of Japan, respectively.

Jaime Castillo, CEO of Sans Soucí Ports, elaborated that effective November, the MSC Cruise Line adds to its schedule greater capacity cruise ships, such as the MSC Musica, and increases its number of departures from the Port of Santo Domingo.

Castillo quoted new excursions to Trikke City Tour, the Shopping Experience, Taino Trail, AquaWorld, and Los Delfines Park.

“To strengthen the cruise tourist experience on land, we have also focused on promoting the best of Santo Domingo through a novelty Tour portfolio featuring more than twenty (20) specialized excursions, whose offer constitutes one of the most complete in the Caribbean”. The port executive added.

Castillo affirmed that these recent investments to revitalize the Colonial City, the new gastronomy and leisure offers taking place in this historical site, add points to the tourist experience of all those whom visit Santo Domingo as a cruise destination.

Upon the dockage of the Ocean Dream, the first cruise of the season, the traditional protocol ceremony was hosted, featuring the attendance of Captain Sotirios Papacharisiou, Jaime Castillo, and Sharon Mei, executives of Sans Soucí Ports; Luis Sánches and María Teresa Balino, of the Marítima Dominicana Agency.

This ceremony is tradition held with all 1st time docking vessels.

Progreso Inaugurates New Services Center

Banco del Progreso expanded its financial services offer in the Cibao region with the opening of a new control center in the Paseo de Santiago, inaugurated this year by Centro Cuesta Nacional (CCN) in this city.

According to the entity, this is the third services center that Banco del Progreso inaugurates in the Supermercado Nacional establishments, two in the capital and this one in Santiago, hence achieving to serve a greater amount of customers.

The inauguration act was headed by Francisco Concepción, Senior VP Personal Banking; Massimiliano Sfara, Deputy VP Operational Marketing; Eselia Báez, Deputy VP Business North Region, and other executives.

Also among the attendees, was Yoel Castro, manager for Supermercados Nacional Paseo Santiago. The blessing was issued by Lucas Cruz Martínez of the Holy Trinity Parrish.

Concepción pointed out that Banco del Progreso is aware of the economic importance it has in Santiago, therefore it has staked on solidifying its presence in this important and influential province located north of the country.
