Santo Domingo. The Specialized Port Security Corps (CeSeP) and the Dominican Port Authority (*Autoridad Portuaria Dominicana-APorDom) delivered to Sans Soucí Ports, S.A, the certificates which avail the recertification of the Don Diego Terminal and the inclusion of the Santo Domingo Terminal under the Vessels and Port Facilities Protection Code ( PBIP).
The Don Diego Terminal also revalidated this certification last year, thus completing via this process for all terminals forming the Santo Domingo Port to be regulated under the PBIP Code. This avail, proper of port operations, is standardized in the local and global environment, valid for a 5-year term.
Amid the certificate delivery ceremony, the Deputy Admiral Luis Lee Ballester, director of CESEP, informed that all audits developed in Sans Soucí –Port of Santo Domingo concluded satisfactorily with a vulnerability assessment of all the processes and procedures, according to the protection, safety implementation plan and protection of cargo vessels and passenger embarkations, for both tourism as well as freight shipping.
Lee Ballester pointed out that the training of all human capital in the Santo Domingo port, and the low rate of incidents which occurred within this infrastructure, that due to its traffic volume, is practically null. On his behalf, Ramón Rivas, is Exec. Director of APorDom, quotes Sans Soucí- Santo Domingo Port as a synonym of trust, which based on his criteria, strengthens their services portfolio in accordance to all international regulations and positions Santo Domingo as a safe destination to invest and visit.
To ensure the proper compliance of this regulation, which comes from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and of which the Dominican Republic is a consignee, annually the CESEP performs audit processes that oversee all processed implemented by Sans Soucí – Santo Domingo Ports with verification and validation from APorDom. The private company, in charge of managing the port of Sans Soucí, has been characterized by applying transformations in matters of comfort and safety to all facility visitors, thus becoming a signature of region wide reference.
