Film Law Plans Undergo Development

Indomina Group, Banco del Progreso and Alpha Securities announced the operational debut of a series of products designed to help seize to the maximum the new incentives offered by the Film Law and promote the development of the inland film industry.

So expressed Antonio Genari, Mark Silverman and Santiago Camarena; executives from all three companies respectively, during a workshop hosted in the Santo Domingo Hilton Hotel, which featured the attendance of financial operators and large-scale taxpayers of the Dominican Republic.

Indomina showed their Strategic Financing Unit (SFU), through which it offers film producers financing solutions for deficits f up to 40% of their production budget.

While Banco del Progreso and Alpha Securities explained the myriad opportunities investors have of gaining tax credits through discounts attained with these financial entities, as well as other options taxpayers can access to seize the Film Law for greater financial profitability, at the same time they promote the development of the national film industry.

Also present at the workshop was Film Commissioner Elis Pérez, attorney Leonel Melo and financial analyst Alejandro Fernández, whom also shared their views from within their field of expertise, all aspects to take under account for Dominican businessmen and/or foreign investors to take advantage of the Law to the fullest. “Thanks to the natural conditions and local artistic talent, asides the tax incentives offered by the Film Law, the Dominican Republic is able to surpass other film production destinations within the region” said Fernández during his dissertation.

The meeting served as a networking tool among taxpayers and investors, filmmakers and service vendors, sponsoring the environment for different actors to seize this Law to its full capacity, which will translate in greater inland development, wealth generation and job sources, as well as injection of foreign capital.

SANTO DOMINGO. Indomina Group, Banco del Progreso and Alpha Money Brokers announced the launch of a product portfolio that will allow investors to seize the Film Law incentives to the maximum, and promote the inland development of the motion picture industry.

So was announced by Antonio Genari, Mark Silverman and Santiago Camarena, executives from the above mentioned companies, during a workshop hosted at the Santo Domingo Hilton Hotel, which featured the attendance of financial operators and important investors of the Dominican Republic.

Indomina showed the Strategic Finance Unit (SFU, known for its English initials) through which they offer film producers financing solutions of up to 40% of their budget.

Meanwhile Banco del Progreso and Alpha Money Brokers explained about the opportunities all investors have for granting tax credit through discounts attained with these financial entities, as well as other options that investors have available in order to seize the Film Law to attain greater financial profitability and at the same time promote the national film industry.

The workshop also featured the participation of the DGCINE Director, Ellis Pérez, attorney Leonel Melo, and financial analyst, Alejandro Fernández, whom explained that within their different fields of action, the aspects to consider, so national or foreign investors can take advantage of the Law. “Thanks to the natural conditions, and the inland artistic talent, as well as the tax incentives offered by the Film Law, the country is prone to surpassing other destinations for film production within the region” said Fernández during his dissertation.

The meeting served as a networking tool between contributors and investors, filmmakers, and service purveyors; promoting this way that all different stakeholders can seek ways to seize the Law, at the same time that the Dominican film industry develops.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Banco del Progreso launched the new corporate image of their Gazcue branch office in Independencia Ave., designed in a way that customers can be served with more agility and comfort.

The office presents an avant-garde design, based on transparency and modernity, and in which space distribution goes accordingly with its concept of efficiency and effectiveness.

The reinauguration ceremony took place in the remodeled facilities. Francisco Concepción, Senior VP Personal Banking, Massimiliano Sfara, Assistant VP of Operational Marketing, as well as members of the Banco del Progreso Board of Directors headed it.

Father Kennedy Rodríguez, of the San Antonio de Padua Parish in Gazcue, blessed the venue. Also present were business and personal banking customers, as well as executives from the banking entity.

“This office joins NovoCentro and Naco, which have been completely restructured and are the spearhead of our new model branch office, which will gradually become the place for all our clients to find the financial solutions they need for their particular necessities, more effective processes, and fully skilled staff prepared to advise them regarding the most suitable product available”, expressed Francisco Concepción, Senior VP of Personal Banking.

The changes our branch office displays are aimed at offering our customers “a more modern environment, featuring agile service and bespoke attention. The main goal is to place the customer experience at the cusp of our initiatives pyramid”, said Massimialiano Sfara, Assistant VP of Operational Marketing.

The branch office is located on Av. Independencia, cornering Socorro Sánchez in gazcue. The office will feature differentiated and comfortable areas, a conference room and self-service area. With this remodeling process, Banco del Progreso continues to promote changes and the improvements necessary to offer quality service, which responds to the needs of its customers.

The La Vega Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AmChamDR), celebrated a business gathering at the La Vega Real Cooperative Hall, which featured the presence of speaker and guest of honour, Lil Esteva, VP Marketing and Sales for Induveca S.A

The dissertation was focused on the marketing and sales strategies for avant-garde companies. “The success of the sustainability of companies is to keep in constant contact with consumers and clients. Understanding the situation they are going through, ponder their change of patterns in consumption and see how you can adapt to continue being part of that consumption with the quality and service they expect from you as a company”, expressed Esteva.

She pointed out that each member of the organization needs to understand that answers are found in the market, and must not be separated from what each team member sees and lives as an experience and integrate it to the solutions to develop.

Ellis Perez: Training is Priority in the Film Business

San Cristóbal. Ellis Pérez assured that for DGCINE “these days, the #1 priority” is developing courses and training workshops so “Dominican youths can respond to the growing demand of films projected to be produced in the country in 2012”, of which he quantified 12 to 15 films.

Pérez visited the premises and cinematography courses offered in the Loyola Polytechnical Institute, of San Cristóbal (IPL), under the direction of the Professional Training Center of the Film Industry Union (*in Spanish, Centro de Formación Profesional del Sindicato de la Industria Cinematográfica (CFP-SICA), of Argentina, and sponsored by the Caribbean Film Training (Entrenamientos Cinematográficos del Caribe- ECC-RD).

The visit was done through the development of the “Gaffer, Grip and Assistant Director”course, offered by the Argentinean Film Union and sponsored by Caribbean Film Training- ECC RD.

Reception

Pérez was received in the IPL main auditorium, by Jasbinder Singh Mann, CEO of Indomina Group; Antonio Gennari; CFO of Indomina Group, and Elías Munoz, ECC-RD Advisor. He was joined by Lorelay Castillo, deputy director of DGCINE for International Affairs, and Jacqueline Bello, advisor to DGCINE for Educational Affairs.

During the visit, a tour was made around the institute premises, and each of the courses, in which they had the opportunity to participate in an exchange of ideas and opinions as well as impressions with teachers and students. The same were elaborately informed about the training process and the methodology applied in the different courses.

Among the CFP-SICA faculty, is Matías Boldt, one of Argentina’s most renowned and distinguished film professionals, in charge of the Assistant Director course, Daniel Ciurleo, Argentinean Gaffer with over 20yrs of experience in 40 international films and responsible for teaching the Gaffer program. Finally, José Cangebis, Argentinean key Grip, with vast experience in film production, television series and commercials.
