SD. General Film Department (DGCINE) pondered favorably the presence of Hollywood celebrities in the DR, whom are participating in the film “A Dark Truth”, whose production began yesterday in Haina.
Elis Pérez, Head of DGCINE, manifested that the presence of actors such as Andy García, Kim Coates, Forest Whitaker and of famed Canadian director Damien Lee will have positive effects in the nation, given that this is the first foreign film to benefit from the incentives of the Film Law. “We have a new Law which is unprecedented in its enforcement and this will be the best promotion our country will get as film production scenario for motion pictures with important incentives. We will return 25 per cent of the expenditures incurred in the Dominican Republic through a fiscal certification transferrable for the established amount. This will be the most prized starting point of what we have to offer to the world” , Pérez said.
Pérez also commented that they are relying on services of Indomina, which is currently developing its studios in Juan Dolio.
Pérez saw part of the footage being filmed in Haina and afterwards hosted a luncheon amid which many topics concerning the film were raised. “Jaime Pina, Indomina executive, said that the presence of such renowned artists has a positive effect of great significance to the local industry, for numerous professionals form part of the crew”.
Film works will extend for some ten days. “I have been told that the team has felt warmly welcome and are planning on doing more things here”.
Indomina is a company in the Real State and Tourism portfolio of assets managed by VICINI.
